Frequently Asked Questions

Can I inflate the tyre immediately after repairing it?

There is no need to wait to inflate the tire. As soon as the repair is completed, it should hold air.

Can I use more than one in the same puncture

Never use more than one repair if the vehicle is driven on public roads. If the vehicle is driven off road at slow speeds you can use up to three repairs in one location.

Which repair will fit my vehicle

For all autos, pickups and SUVs either auto/light truck repairs (for punctures 3mm – 6mm) should be used. Larger road going vehicles such as semis, should use the Truck repairs. Heavy Equipment repairs should be used for large equipment that have very thick treads such as payloaders, backhoes, etc.

When should I not use Safety Seal on my vehicle?

If the puncture is larger than 6mm or if the damage is outside the tread portion of the tyre, it should not be repaired, regardless of what is used to repair it. Damage to the belt package and the potential for a catastrophic failure are possible in these situations. In an emergency in the outback many have used multiple plugs and got home driving slowly on lower pressure but not for public roads and general use.

Is it illegal in Australia to use Safety Seal Tyre plugs

There is no law as such. When Safety Seal was Introduced in Australia, the product and its European and USA independant tests (Click for USA Test) were sent to all Road Authorities requesting it legality. The answer in reply was  their is no objection to its use : " provided it has no adverse effects on the inherent balance of the wheel or safety of the vehicle in general"
Many years of experience have proven this to be so.
